Friday the 13th

It's official. I am now superstitious. It all started with me planning a fun date with Justin. We haven't been on a date for a while now, so I wanted to go and make it fun and special. Justin bought me ice skates for Christmas and I had never been on the outdoor rinks, so I thought we would go ice skating! We got there and it was perfect...minus the fact that it had been "warm" during the day so some of the ice was slushy and gross...not skate-able. We found the 1/3 of the rink that was skate-able and went for it. It was too cute. The weather was great, the music was playing, and no one but us and our friends we went with were there. Just skatin' and flirtin' for 40 mins. Right when we were almost done, I did one last little fancy graceful spinny thing, and BAM!!! Biffed it.

Now, I know I have no skill, so that is why I probably fell, but I also attribute it to the fact that the ice was slushy, so your skates just stick in it. I find solace in the fact that Justin almost fell earlier too, and he is a born and bred ice skating Canadian. A trip to the ER, some X-rays, and 3 hrs later, we were told I had a buckle fracture of the head of my radius in my left arm (in the elbow joint). They don't cast these kind because they think early motion helps these kinds of fractures heal better. I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous this situation was. I have an extremely busy toddler and 2 1/2 month old twins at home...are you kidding me? And I don't even get a hot pink cast or anything? Anyway, to make it all worse, we brought the camera to take a picture of our almost perfect date, but forgot the battery charging at home...Broken arm, wicked bruised hip, no camera...Good date, gone bad.
Here I am at 3 AM looking not so impressed at my hospital wristband and my broken arm (the left one). That's the last time we ever go on a date again!

2 days after the mishap. Swelling has gone down quite a bit and I can move it a lot more.

Now, I was blessed with large arms to begin with, but this is swollen, I promise... :)
