Summer Fun

Just Funny

Why crocheted blankets are awesome! :)
You can let your nail polish dry AND stay warm at the same time!

Half a Year Already?!!!

I can't believe the girls are already 6 months old! It is a good thing and a sad thing, but mostly good. Keep growing up! At least until you sleep through the night. These girls are both so smiley and full of personality. They are just so sweet and I love being their mother! I just can't believe that they'll be 1 in another of their lifetimes...if that makes sense. Anyway, yay for being 6 months. You know what that means though, only 6 more shopping months before Christmas! Get going!!
Kate is now 17 lbs!!! We think she is big, but then I looked back at Zachary's records and at 5 months he was 17 lbs 15 oz. WHAT!! Anyway, she is rolling everywhere, getting around pretty well. She also sits up and has recently gotten her first tooth...which she loves to use. :) She is such a sweety and loves to talk to you when you gurgle back at her. She absolutely LOVES Zach and smiles and laughs at any attention he gives her. She has beautiful blue eyes that really light up when you come into the room and glow when we go outside.

Happy Girl. They really love the swings.

Kara Joy is just that. A joy. She is 15 lbs 3 oz, and is so happy. She also lights up when you walk into the room and loves to interact with us. She does this cute breathe in wheeze/gasp when she is excited and laughs like a machine gun. She is growing A LOT (relatively) of long soft brown hair. I like to run my fingers through it. :) She is very squealy and is starting to sit up too. She has rolled over a couple times, but hasn't really mastered it. She'd rather lay on her arm and smile as I cheer her on. Go Kara! You can do it!
This picture is so funny. She totally has my pokey ears from when I was a baby. Right Mom? Don't worry Kara, you'll grow out of it, or at least you will grow some hair to cover them!

I love putting them in a swing together. I just walk back and forth meeting each of their eyes and making them laugh. It is so cute. Plus, it totally balances out the swing (give or take 2 lbs!)
I had to put this picture in because not once, but twice, as I was taking pictures of the girls on the swings, gawkers walking by asked me if I wanted them to take a picture of me with them. It was funny. I love my girls!

Here is my manly man chopping wood to build us a house and a split-rail fence up in the Edmonton river valley wilderness. :) Actually, we were having a weiner roast with the Elder's Quorum and Justin was making kindling. Anyway, it was fun to watch him. AND, nobody got hurt!

Happy Father's Day!

I have been blessed with great fathers in my life. My Dad is an amazing example to me of relying on the Lord for answers and helping people to feel loved and cared for. He is such a "feel good" kind of guy. He is also an incredible husband and treats my mom like a queen...still...after 37 years. Go Dad.
My father-in-law is a smart service oriented man. He knows how to play and is willing to drop anything and help at any time. He really listens and gives great solid advice. Justin says his favorite thing about his dad is that he is wise.
And Justin Scott, the Daddy to my kids, is doing such a good job so far. He exudes happiness. I don't know how else to describe it. He is pure and willing to help whenever I ask. He is determined and disciplined in his life. He loves his kids, plays with them, and wants his family to be happy. He is healthy, helpful, and happy. I really couldn't ask for more. Thank you for all of your help with the kids even through your extremely busy schedule Justin. I love you and am SO happy you are my babies' daddy! :)
I enlarged these photos and put them on our living room wall for Father's Day. They turned out SO cute!!!
And happy Zach...looks more and more like a mini-Justin every day.

News and Faces!!!

Zach slept in his "Big Boy Bed" one night and one nap so far!! Not in a row. He just can't seem to get over the excitement of getting in and out of bed, so he still goes to his crib after a few tries. He needs to catch on soon. Kate's rolling on Kara. They like to attack each other!

Kate has had a BIG week!!! She is getting her FIRST TOOTH and she is sitting up for prolonged periods. You go girl!! I was trying to take a picture of Kate to show how well she is doing sitting up, but she got too excited when I took out the camera, flapped her arms, and fell backward. I thought it was pretty funny that I caught her in the falling motion.

Here is her successfully sitting up. She loves the new view. Now, it's Kara's turn! :)
I just thought this was a great picture. We were watching a friends boy and Justin was watching all of them while for a bit. He's got things under control! What a superman. Kate looks like a big baby now. Where did my tiny twins go?

Such and awesome picture. Zach had a goopey eye this week and we were trying to give him his eye drops. He HATED them so I had to show him that his eyes were red so he needed medicine. For days now he has been walking around like this saying "See mommy, ah wed!"

Such a beauty. Look at those eyes. And those lips.

Kara's getting cheeks! She is catching up to Kate in weight I think! We'll see on Wednesday!!

Double The 2nd Cousins!!

Justin's cousin Angie had twins also! Her boys' names are Stryder and Jackson. It was fun to see them and remember how tiny Kate and Kara were. My babies aren't so little anymore. Wah and Yay at the same time! :)
Kara and Stryder

FOOD!!!

The girls got to eat!!! I can't believe they are getting so old so fast. For a few weeks now though they have been watching us, following food from our plates to our mouths, wanting to intercept it. So, we thought we'd give some cereal a try. We got THE FUNNIEST video on our real camera. The little camera only got the normal not-so-funny part. After it shut off Zach said he wanted to try some, so I let him. He tasted it and out of reflex did the dry heave face. He thought it was so gross! Then we all started laughing, so he buried his face in his hands and started chuckling too, like he knew he was so funny. What a jokester. Man, I wish we got it on camera so you could see it. I don't know how to condense my camera footage though. Sorry!!! ;)
Zach and I feeding the girls. It was so cute. Kate loved it. But Kara had just eaten and wasn't too hungry.

This is a good picture of the response...Kara didn't really care, and Kate wanted to eat everything in site. It was SO funny.

Our little munchkin, Kate.
Who do you think won?

Justin's Birthday!!! The BIG 26!

The old man himself.
We barbecued shishkabobs and had fresh pineapple and this yummy frozen strawberry desert that Justin's mom used to make. Happy Birthday honeybuns!
Some of our party guests. We were lucky enough to have Jeff and Maria Hughes stay at our house. They are our old neighbors that moved to Medicine Hat. Anyway, here are their boys Thatcher and Carson. Fun times.I have been waiting for the girls to be able to wear these dresses and shoes since January and they finally fit. This picture was mainly to show how cute they looked, but I thought that Justin should hold them since it was his birthday! :) So, here is the Birthday boy and his girlios. So cute.

The problem with taking pictures of two babies: Kate looks so cute in this one and Kara...well...

Then they switch and Kara gets the oh so cute award and Kate gets the "that's one of the awesomest faces caught on camera" award. She was blowing raspberries. SO FUNNY! Anyway, thank goodness for digital cameras.

Kara and I matched too well not to take a picture! :)

...or two... :)

While Kate was getting her beautyrest, Kara was hamming it up. She has a very fun, happy personality and LOVES attention. Doesn't any baby? Anyway, she is a sweetie and lives up to her middle name...JOY.

Well, That Stinks...

We came home from our walk in the park and found this...SO SAD! We parked it there at 11 AM and our neighbor said it was like that at 3 pm when he got home. It just frustrates me that someone could be so dishonest. I tried to think, well, maybe they didn't know they hit it. But it was hard enough to crunch the door in and swing the back of the car toward the curb about 6 inches. You can see the skid mark on the road by the tire... Anyway, we can still drive it, but have to crawl in through the passenger side. That was fun this morning doing it in my skirt on the way to church. HA! At least we can open it from the inside. It is getting fixed in the 22nd. So lame. Thank heaven we weren't in it.

At least it was only the one door.

Awesome skid mark.

This is how the car was when we found it. We didn't park it like that. That is A LOT of movement.

May in Cali-For-Ni-A!

DAY 1

CALIFORNIA HERE WE COME!

Jason and Kamry, my awesome brother and sister-in-law that live right around the corner from us now, were taking a vacation down to California and let me...and my 3 children tag along! We were able to stay from May 14-23 and party in SoCal. We were actually thrilled to hear that the weather back here in Edmonton was cold, overcast, and SNOWY while we were gone! Our winter get away in May. HA! Anyways, thanks SO much guys. We had a great time and I obviously couldn't have done it without you.

My good friend Melissa Ramsay brought us all to the airport. She lived right around the corner from me, but has now moved to Airdrie. SO SAD!! I am kind of getting tired of making friends and then watching them move away!

Pretty sweet set up if you ask me! Luckily Westjet has TVs on the back of each seat so Zach watched cartoons, ate snacks, and drank juice all the way to CA! Anything to keep him happy and me sane. :)

A cute and creative sign the cousins made for our arrival. Many of the artists are not in this picture, but thanks to all of you!!! U.S.Eh...So punny!

(Madison, Sydney, Brenna, Laneah, Kaela, Reagan, Michael, Baby Dallin and Carrie for supervising, and Angie and Cameron for picking us up at the airport and bearing the little artists!)

Each of the girl cousins couldn't wait to hold both of the babies at the same time. It was cute and they were all such a help! If I have another set of twins, I sure hope it is when Kate and Kara are at least 7 years old!! Think of all of the help they'd be!

Not the biggest fan of pets, especially shedding ones, but this is our cat Autumn. She has been in the family for years. I thought It was so funny how she loved to watch over the sleeping babies. This happened more than once, until Zach found her and chased her away and grabbed her tail! That happened more than once too. Nice kitty.
Zach loved this fountain. It was disgusting. I guess it was water from a nearby marsh that Dad brought for the g-kids so they could watch the tadpoles turn into frogs. I hope they survived.

May in Cali-For-Ni-A ... Day 2

Day 2

The second day we were there we went to the local Dejong's Dairy and hung out with "fun cousins" as Zach calls them. I guess the one's on Justin's side just aren't as fun! Only because none exist yet. :) It was so fun to watch him interact and play with all of them. I wish they lived closer. He LOVED the play time. He didn't watch ANY television or movies while he was there, except for a 1/2 hour the last day. THAT is awesome, fun, and NOT stay-in-the-house boring.

Zach loved feeding the "doats and sheeps."

"Here you doe doats."
After a long hard day of playing, some of the cousins needed a hot tub break. Too cute.

May in Cali-For-Ni-A ... Day 3

Day 3

Mom and Dad, affectionately known as Papa and Mare-Mare, (my mom's name is Mary) got home and we got to spend some fun time with them and with Jason and Kamry at the resort pool where they were staying. Again guys, thanks for the fun times and kid help!!

Mare-mare and Kate. There is actually this picture of my mom as a baby that looks A LOT like Kate. Maybe the Kate's looks mystery is solved?! I'll post it later.

Me and my Californian Girls. They must have been hungry! I am so happy they got to wear these suits finally! I bought them on a great sale before they were born!

Zach absolutely loved playing ping-pong by the pool with Papa and Mare-mare.

Zach's keeping his eyes on the ball. Good work. Cute pic!

Playing with Uncle Jay.
Love the expression on this one.

Auntie Kamry and the girls

They had this great little spray park. Zach's favorite thing was chasing me with the big spray gun.

Real funny Zachary.
